Whiskey Advent Calendar – Ardbeg ‘Scorch’

Those who know the bar staff at R&R know to what high regard we hold the Ardbeg Distillery. These are the kings of peated scotch and the 2021 Committee Release of Scorch was further proof that if you seek the highest quality of peated, smoky Islay scotch, simply look no further than the lads and lassies of Ardbeg. Bottled at 103.4 proof, this single malt is aged in heavily charred ex-bourbon casks, imparting a tremendous amount of richness to an already powerful whisky. Loads of peat on the nose, along with burnt cedar and tobacco. The palate is oily and smooth, with tons of leather, limestone, charred oak and rich smoke. The finish is insanely long. For fans of peated malt, this is a must have and one of our favorite whisky releases of 2021.
